Robbers attack residence of Buhari’s Chief of Staff besides Aso Rock

The Presidency has confirmed that there was an attempt by suspected armed robbers to burgle the residences of the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and the Administrative Officer, Abubakar Maikano on Monday.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu confirmed the development on his private twitter handle @GarShehu.

He said ” The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has confirmed that there “was a foolish attempt” to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning but it turned out to be unsuccessful”

“Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident’.

Sources said the incident which took place on May 9 prompted Ibrahim Gambari and Abubakar Maikano, to abandon their residences.

“Their houses were robbed and the robbers packed money and other valuable assets from both houses”.

It is still not clear whether or not valuable documents of state interest were carted away by the intruders, but it was reported that he residences were thoroughly ransacked.

The official residence of the Chief of Staff is the Defence House, but he has not been living there, preferring instead to live inside the Presidential Villa and be close to the President.

The Presidency is expected to give more details about the incident tomorrow.
