Residents of at least 3 communities in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State are still counting their losses, following a conflict between farmers and herdsmen that left scores killed, and hundreds displaced.

Over 10,000 persons have been displaced by the crisis with the majority of them from farming communities.

Taraba State has enjoyed relative peace from the farmer-herder conflict lately, but just on the verge of the planting season, violence broke out in Bornu-Kurukuru, Gazabu, and Utsuaa-Daa communities in Bali Local Government Area.

Residents say this recent crisis between the farmers and herders is a spillover of a crisis in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of neighboring Benue State.

At least 65 persons were said to have lost their lives in the incident, with thousands from farming communities displaced in various temporary camps, in need of humanitarian assistance.

Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, David Misal says, the situation is under control.

Taraba State Government on its part says it has put in place appropriate measures to prevent any further escalation of the crisis.
