The Federal Government of Nigeria says it is aware of false alarms being raised in some quarters alleging that discussions between it and some foreign countries are ongoing on citing of foreign military bases in the country.

According to the minister of information and national orientation Mohammed Idris, the general public should totally disregard the false allegation.

He says the Federal Government is not in any discussion with foreign country.

Idris says the government has neither received nor considering any proposals from any country on the establishment of any foreign military bases in Nigeria.

The government he says already enjoys foreign cooperation in tackling ongoing security challenges, and the President remains committed to deepening the partnerships, with the goal of achieving the national security objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
