The Zamfara State Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran, has accused the security agencies, especially the military, of their slow response to distress calls, whenever bandits are attacking the communities.

He made the allegation while announcing the release of 53 kidnapped victims by the bandits at Yarkatsina and other communities of the Bugundu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Commissioner said that the 53 persons who were kidnapped recently by bandits from some communities in Bugundu Local Government, have regained freedom as a result of the ongoing peace deal, initiated by the Governor Bello Mohammed’s administration.

He emphasised the state government in collaboration with the police had secured the release of the 53 kidnap victims from Yarkatsina, Doka, Fandahaki, and Maje villages in Bingi District of Bugundu Emirate Council.

The Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Mohammed Shehu, then promised that the police will intensify efforts, to forestall the incessant attacks in Zamfara communities.

The 53 kidnap victims are said to be in stable condition and have since reunited with their families.
