NECO Registrar Godswill Obioma dies at 67

The Registrar and chief Executive, National Examinations Council (NECO) Prof. Godswill Obioma has died at the age of 67, A Circular issued by the Director, Human Resource Management, Mustapha K. Abdul in Minna on Tuesday, quoted family sources as saying that Professor Obioma died on Monday from a brief illness.

This is contrary to reports in the social media that the late Registrar was assassinated in his Minna residence, The Circular enjoined staff of the Council to remain calm and prayed for the repose of the soul of Professor Obioma.

The late professor was born on December 12, 1953 and hailed from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. He was appointed Registrar of NECO on May 14, 2020 by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obioma was a Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation and was a former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council, NERDC.

Until his appointment as Registrar of NECO, Professor Obioma was the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
