Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has called on his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom to create a formidable security vigilante group to help protect his people from the herdsmen attacks, instead of playing the blame game.
Umahi gave the advice to his Benue State counterpart when he paid a visit to victims of the recent attacks of some communities in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, who are receiving treatments at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakiliki.

It was a displeasing sight at the new Emergency and Accident Ward, of the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki Ebonyi State, as men, women and little children, numbering about 54 are receiving treatment for the injuries sustained during the attack..

They are the victims of last Sunday’s attack by suspected herdsmen, in Nwori Ndobasi and Odoke villages in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.
Governor Dave Umahi expressed shock at the level of injuries sustained as he pledged a sum of five million naira to help defray the medical bills of the victims.

The Ebonyi State Governor notes that the victims of the attack, though descendants of the Izhi clan of Ebonyi State, politically belong to Benue State.

He urged the Benue State government to do the needful to ensure that their people are protected from future attacks as available reports suggest the death toll from the attack may have risen to over 60.
