The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have written to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, to reverse the new regime of electricity tariff in Nigeria before midnight of Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Labour is also calling for an Immediate cessation of the discriminatory practice of segregating electricity consumers into what it termed “arbitrary bands”.
In the letter signed by the Presidents of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero and that of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, labour asked for the restoration of the supremacy of the statutes governing the conduct of operators within the electricity industry.

Copies of the letter have been sent to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) , The Federal Minister of Labour and Employment ,The Federal Minister of Power and all Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs)
