Rising insecurity has been top on the concerns of parents as candidates write this year’s National Common Entrance Examination into Federal Unity Secondary Schools across the country.

At Saint Jude’s Girls Secondary School, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where no fewer than two hundred and sixty students turned-up to write their papers , some parents expressed fears that unless insecurity is tackled, the essence of a national bond through unity schools stands threatened.

The aim of establishing the Federal Unity School programme in Nigeria was mainly to ensure national integration through the creation of an ideal educational environment, where children from different ethnic backgrounds can forge a strong bond.

This year’s National Common Entrance Examination held in 417 centres nationwide, with Lagos State having the highest number of candidates with more than 2100 registering, while Taraba State, has the least, with only 113 candidates.
