Adamawa Communities Embrace Peaceful Coexistence Through Sports

Communities in Adamawa state have added sporting activities as part of measures to achieving unity and peaceful coexistence among communities that have hitherto been bedeviled by communal and farmers/herders crisis

In a football competition tagged Pitapwa Unity football Cup, Nine local government areas of Adamawa Southern Zone came together to tackle hostilities through football

Adamawa state Southern Zone has suffered series of blood sheds as a result of disagreement between farmers and herders over water resources among communities or over farmlands and boundaries

The football competition is among the Nine local government areas of the state that made up the southern zone which attracts people of different backgrounds in view of its serenity and capacity to give higher Agricultural yeilds

Organisers of the football competition who are specifically youths believe that bringing fellow youths together to interact and correlate through sporting activity will desuade them from crisis-related ventures

In the third place contest, Mayo Belwa local government area defeated Dowaya area by a lone goal victory to clinch the third place title

The finals however was between Numan local government area and Lamurde local government area.

Numan team won the cup against Lamurde in penalty shootouts after a one all draw at full time

Special guest of honour and first class Monarch in whose domain the competition held was the Hama Bachama Homun Dr Daniel Shaga Ismaila

He commended the foresight of the youth for promoting peace through sports
