Court in Minnesota, has sentenced former U.S police officer, Derek Chauvin who killed Black American, George Floyd to 22.5 years in prison.
The death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020 led to global movement known as “Black Lives Matter” to demand for justice and action against racism.
Chauvin was found guilty in April of murder and manslaughter and could have been sentenced to maximum of 40 years in prison.

Meanwhile, 3 other ex-police officers who helped arrest Floyd leading to his death after he complained that “I can’t breath” are due to go on trial in March 2022.
