Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike to set aside their differences and work together for the collective interest of the state, the Niger Delta region and the country

Dr. Jonathan, who on Monday flagged off the construction of the Trans-Kalabari road says Rivers State is the heartbeat of the country, and any crisis in the state is capable of having far-reaching consequences on the country

It’s a project the people of the Kalabari kingdom have yearned for… and after over two decades, their prayer for the construction of the Trans-Kalabari road has finally been answered by the administration of Governor Sim Fubara.

It’s a massive project that will cost the state 225 billion naira and when completed, the Trans-Kalabari road will surpass the Port Harcourt Ring Road as the single biggest project to be embarked upon in the history of the state

While calling on the affected communities to give the contractor the support needed to complete the project on time, Governor Fubara warns that he would not tolerate any sabotage

He says his administration will continue to give priority to the welfare of the people.

Invited to flag off the project was former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.

The event provides the former president the opportunity to speak on the political crisis in Rivers State, as he calls on both Governor Sim Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike to embrace peace.

He further warns that if not resolved, the crisis is capable of having far reaching consequences on the country

While calling on other well-meaning Nigerians to intervene, Dr. Jonathan also frowns at the ugly trend of disagreements between the outgoing and incoming administrations across the states of the federation, saying that the situation has become worrisome.
