The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the party.
Obi joined the Federal Capital Territory, FCT chapter of the Labour Party and supporters, who converged at the National Secretariat in solidarity with Abure, after the 2024 National Convention held in Anambra State.
This is the first time Peter Obi is joining the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party, after the national convention of the party on March 27, 2024.
Peter Obi was absent at the last convention of the party, which the Nigeria Labour Congress described as illegal.
His silence after the convention also raised doubts about his loyalty to the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.
Peter Obi says he is more interested in the well-being of Nigerians, who are currently suffering untold hardship across the country.
