Kogi Healthcare Delivery: Gov. Ododo Flags Off 2024 Seasonal Malaria Chemo Prevention Prog

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has flagged off the 2024 seasonal malaria chemo prevention Programme aimed at ensuring zero malaria prevalence in children under the age of five in the state.

Governor Ododo who performed the flag-off in lokoja on Saturday also distributed medical equiptment and consumables at the State medical store.

Malaria is an infectious disease that is preventable and treatable; the disease currently threatens the lives of 3.2 billion people around the world.

Available Statistics show that under five malaria prevalence in Kogi state has dropped substantially from 25 percent in 2018 to 16 percent in 2024.

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, says his administration remains committed to a considerable reduction in malaria incident in children less than five years and pregnant Women.

The State commissioner for health, Dr Abdulazeez Adams, said the provision of medical equipment and consumables demonstrate the commitment of the Ododo administration to ensure good and quality health care delivery for the citizens of the State.

A representative from the malaria consortium, Kenneth Maduka, thanked the Kogi State Government for the support to health services and other malaria intervention efforts in the State.
