Prayers on first year memorial of late DAAR founder, Raymond Dokpesi

Late founder of DAAR Communications PLC, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi

The one year remembrance and thanksgiving service in honour of late founding chairman of DAAR Communications PLC, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi held Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church on AIT Road in Alagbado Lagos State, South-West Nigeria.

Reverend Father Camilius Mgbemere who presided over the Mass said life is transient and death is inevitable. He admonished all those present to live an impactful life as they sojourn on planet earth.

Meanwhile, the children, family members and staff of DAAR Communications PLC have been admonished to work assiduously to sustain the legacy of the late founder, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

The call was made by the Parish Priest in charge of Saint Micheal the Archangel Catholic Church, Ikhueniro in Benin City, Edo State, South-South Nigeria. He gave the call during the first memorial service of the late media icon which was attended by staff of the Benin Broadcasting Centre of the media conglomerate.

He described late pioneer of private broadcasting in Nigeria, Raymond Dokpesi as a man with a heart of gold. He led the congregation in offering special prayers as the staff danced to the altar to give God thanks for the life of the late Ezomo of Weppa Uwanno Kingdom.

It will be recalled that at about noon on May 29, 2023, the news of the death of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi hit the airwaves and on June 22 of same year, he was buried at his home town, Agenebode in Etsako East LGA of Edo State.

And in Jos, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria, the late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been described as a true democrat who would stop at nothing to ensure that Nigeria is made a great nation.

A cross section of people admitted that the absence of the media icon is greatly being felt even though his legacies will continue to keep his memories fresh.

They called on his immediate family members, management and staff of DAAR Communications PLC to hold dear to his good intentions and build on them.

They equally prayed that the Nigerian government will learn from his interest of uniting the country through various activities he carried out during his life time.

And some journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital have described late founder of DAAR Communications PLC, Raymond Anthony Aleogho Dokpesi as a trail blazer whose legacy in the broadcast industry will outlive this generation.

Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Union of journalists NUJ, Stanley Job alongside his secretary, Ike Wigodo both agreed that Late Dokpesi did not only pioneer private broadcasting in the country but helped shape the political space by giving the opposition and the less privileged a voice in the country.

They also applauded Raymond Dokpesi for bridging the unemployment gap and creating an opportunity for the have not, to have access to information dissemination.
