At least six persons have been killed by suspected bandits at Gora Namaye community, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday afternoon.

Sources said, the bandits stormed the community between 3: 00 to 4 PM on Friday and started firing sporadic gunshots, killing six persons, while several others were left with injuries.

The sources said a vehicle and other property have also been burned by the criminal elements.

The incident is coming few hours after the bandits had sacked five communities, and killed 42 persons in the same Maradun Local Government Area of the state.

Efforts to get the police to confirm the incident were not successful as the telephone lines of the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu were not accessible.

The governor of Zamfara State, Bello Mohammed had directed security operatives to comply with President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to shoot at sight, anyone found with unlawful arms in the state.

Despite the directive and the peace initiative with the bandits, to drop their heinous acts, the killings, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and attacks of rural communities have continued unabated.
