Management of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, says it is leveraging technology to protect critical infrastructure from vandalism, using aerial surveillance as a security strategy, to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria emphasised this during an assessment visit to the Kaduna station.
The facility tour in Kaduna by the NRC management was a strategic move by the Federal Government to bolster railway security and enhance operational efficiency.
Explaining the purpose of the tour, Okhiria underscored the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to safeguard rail tracks from vandals through advanced technological interventions.

He highlighted the deployment of aerial surveillance as a critical measure, to ensure the security of rail lines, particularly along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor.
Okhiria also announced the imminent commencement of train services from Abuja to Kano, once the Kaduna to Kano track section is completed.
The authority of the Nigeria Railway Corporation also emphasised government’s determination to modernise the country’s railway infrastructure, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transportation for all.
