Imo State government, South East Nigeria is fortifying its security network with the handing over of 32 refurbished operational vehicles and 11 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the State Police Command.
Governor Hope Uzodimma at the event which held at the Government House, Owerri, said the gesture is to reduce abandoned Police Vehicles that were littered all over the State.
The refurbishing of the operational vehicles is said to have cost over Five hundred million Naira.
The Governor restated his commitment towards reducing crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the state and also appealed to the Imo State Police Command to ensure adequate maintenance of the vehicles.
Receiving the Armoured Personnel Carriers and other operational vehicles, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma expressed appreciations to the Governor for his magnanimity in undertaking the rehabilitation of the vehicles after they got bad.
The Police Commissioner however
affirmed that the Divisional Police Officers will monitor the management and use of the vehicles to ensure reduction in crime rates in Imo State.
