Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas has said the security outfits in the country are capable of addressing Nigeria’s security challenges without the creation of a State Police.

The Governor said the issues of peace and security must not be politicised, if the country is to get it right in those areas.

He was speaking after an inspection tour of some ongoing projects in Jalingo, the State capital.

Governor Kefas who visited some of the ongoing project sites to assess the level of work done, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the contractors.

The projects visited included the Jalingo Water Supply Scheme, which targets to provide 28 million litres of water daily to Jalingo metropolis and its environs; and the Danbaba Suntai Airport, where expansion work is ongoing.

The Governor also spoke on national issues, such as the clamour for State police, saying that he has a divergent opinion, explaining that, the current security architecture in the country has what it takes to uphold national security.

He noted that rather than create a State police system, he cautioned against politicising security matters.

Governor Kefas also said his government is ready to comply with the minimum wage to be agreed on between the organised Labour and the Federal government.

Governor Agbu Kefas reiterates his administration’s concern for the welfare of civil servants, and its commitment to improve on it.
