For over 30 years, the Adiabo-Ikoneto Road in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State remained a forgotten project, bringing frustration and state of despair in the local community.

But Governor Bassey Otu has now transformed its dilapidated state into hope, as he breaks grounds on the long-awaited construction of the road.

Construction work will begin with an initial phase covering 4.5 kilometers to ensure effective resource management.

The comprehensive 11-kilometer road project will include the construction of three bridges across swampy areas and is projected to be completed within 18-months.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Bassey Otu highlighted that the completion of the road will not only spur development in the area but also enhance access to Creek Town Road, benefiting the broader state infrastructure.

The Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V alongside local residents recounted the years of hardships they have endured due to the neglected Road.

They expressed optimism that the road’s completion will bring significant development to the area.

Governor Bassey Otu’s decisive action marks a turning point after years of disappointments and neglect.
