Abia State Government To Partner PETAN To Establish Refinery

Abia State government has expressed willingness to partner the petroleum technology association of Nigeria, PETAN, an indigenous company to establish a refinery in the state that will also serve other neighbouring states.

A delegation of the petroleum technology association of Nigeria led by its chairman Wole Ogunsanye who were in Umuahia the Abia State capital on a courtesy visit to the governor said, Abia State will be the first state to benefit from the proposed joint venture model aimed at creating employment opportunities.

Governor Otti assured the delegation of his administration’s support for the proposed establishment of an oil refinery in the state.

Meanwhile, the commandant, Nigeria security and civil defense corps, Abia State command, Usman Alfadarai says his command would explore collaborative efforts to combat the sale and distribution of adulterated petroleum products in the state.

Alfadarai said this during a meeting with the executive director of quality assurance and quality control limited in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The head of technology for the company, Olamide Onipede said their Mobile laboratory kit, an innovation tool for an on the spot testing of petroleum products authenticity, offers numerous benefits including rapid testing and enhanced product safety.
