Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has issued three Executive Orders aimed at establishing two new agencies and restraining monarchs from entering into agreements on mining activities and land matters.
In a move to enhance the state’s mineral resources development and landscaping, the governor has established the Ogun State Mineral Resources Development Agency and the Ogun State Landscaping and Recreation Agency.
A statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade said the three executive orders will take immediate effect.
The Mineral Resources Development Agency will conduct geo-technical surveys, establish relationships with host communities, and promote solid mineral investment, among other functions.
The Landscaping and Recreation Agency will administer parks, gardens, and recreation centers, regulate tree felling, and provide security and environmental sanitation facilities.
In addition, the governor has barred traditional rulers from entering into memoranda of understanding with individuals or companies on mining and land matters.
The statement say any violation of this order will result in sanctions and legal action.
This move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing the state’s economic development and environmental sustainability.
