The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, debunked the exposure of sensitive data of Nigerian citizens as it concerns the Commission amongst many other data-collecting agencies.

In a statement by the Head, Corporate Communications,Kayode Adegoke The Commission assured Nigerian public that citizens’ personal data has not in anyway been compromised, and that the Commission has not authorised any website or entity to sell or misuse the National Identification Number, NIN, amongst all the identities.

This is coming after there were reports that NIMC had commissioned some organisations to manage sensitive personal data, including registration of the NIN with the sum of one hundred naira.

NIMC further denied authorising The following websites: idfinder.com.ng; Verify. Ng/sign in, championtech.com.ng, trustyonline.com, and anyverify.com, to access or manage sensitive data.

The Commission urged the public to disregard any claims or services these websites offer, it further warned Nigerians not to give out their data, as the websites are potentially fraudulent.

The Statement assured Nigerians that the Commission has taken robust measures to safeguard the nation’s database from cyber threats.
