Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, is mourning the death of a former military governor of Benue State, Air Vice Marshal, AVM Adebayo Lawal (rtd), whose demise took place in the early hours of Sunday, June 23rd, at the age of 83.
In his condolence message made public by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, the governor described the late Military Administrator, as someone who played a huge role of overseeing the peaceful transition from military rule to democratic governance in the state.
He noted that the late administrator ensured a smooth handover to the Late Apollos Aper Aku, the first civilian governor of the state.
Alia said the late Lawal, who was also a one time Minister of Youths and Sports, will be fondly remembered as a dedicated military officer, a great business man and a philanthropist.
While praying to God to give his immediate family, the people of Benue and Kwara States, the fortitude to bear the great loss, the governor also prayed to God to grant the late Lawal eternal rest.
According to him, a state government delegation, led by the Deputy Governor, has gone to Lagos, to physically condole with the family of the late AVM Lawal (rtd), who has since been buried.
