The Gombe state government says it is making efforts to sustain the planting of trees for its afforestation programme to tackle the adverse effects of climate change.
State governor Inuwa Yahaya says the state which has planted four million trees in the last five years through its ‘Gombe goes green’ project is still eager to do more recovering one hundred and forty hectares of land through aggressive tree planting of over one million tree seedlings in the state.

The state government began the Gombe goes green five years ago where it had planted four million trees.
This time it is doing more in collaboration with the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL.
Governor Yahaya said the afforestation programme provides the opportunity for communities to benefit from the revolving fund which would be used to revitalise agriculture in the areas and pledged his administration’s commitment to sustaining programmes associated with afforestation and community development
