Delta state governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen in the state to reciprocate the overwhelming mandate people gave them at the polls by prioritising the needs and aspirations of the electorate with sincerity of purpose.
Governor Oborevwori who made this call at the Event Center Asaba during the Swearing-in ceremony of the 25 Elected Council Chairmen and their Vice implored them to take seriously the security of life and property by running an all inclussive government, periodic town hall meeting and working closely with security agencies for the safety of their communities.

The victorious 25 Council Chairman at the July 13th election being Sworn in were all of the Peoples Democratic Party the PDP. Governor Oborevwori recalled that Delta state right from when he was Speaker of the State Assembly had believed in Local Government Financial Autonomy while the state he said had severally augmented their allocation to meet their financial obligations.
The newly Sworn in Council Chairmen were charged to improve the sanitation of their various communities and to shun over reliance on the Federal allocation rather to improve the Council Internally Generated Revenue but that should be with caution.
Governor Oborevwori further emphasised the importance of being close to the people they represent and to shun admistering from outside their Council Areas as the later he said deterred development and breeds discontent.
He further pointed out the dangers of running a one man show in the administration of the Council as peace, stability, cohesion and meaningful development will be far from the leadership and the people.
