The Akwa Ibom State Government has augmented the twenty four thousand bags of rice given to the state with another twenty four thousand bags of rice.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Offiong Offor made this known to journalists in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The move is expected to ameliorate the economic hardship in the country.
The Federal Government had sent 24 thousand bags of 25kg rice to each state recently
Governor Umo Eno had applauded the gesture and has also augmented what the Federal Government has done according to the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Offiong Offor.
Offor also stated that the State Government has also put together other cushioning effect of the economic hardship for the benefit of the people.
The commissioner for agriculture also said 150 thousand naira livelihood grants to 1,560 beneficiaries and agricultural inputs and services to 900 farmers under the AKCARES scheme has been put in place.
