The Edo State Government and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, have condemned Thursday’s mayhem at the Benin Airport which led to the loss of a police personnel, wanton destruction of vehicles and disruption of order around the airport road axis of Benin City.

In separate media briefings, they pointed accusing fingers at the All Progressives Congress, APC, its governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Philip Shaibu for what they said was an attempt to carry out a court judgement through self help and present a picture of chaos in Edo.

The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare addressed members of the press on what transpired at the Benin Airport on Thursday when the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Monday Okpebholo and Philip Shaibu arrived Benin City after a court judgement by a Federal High Court in Abuja which reinstated the latter as Deputy Governor.

He also said Shaibu was told by the Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye of a standing order for a stay of execution.

The Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie is on the same page with him.

In the same vein, the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by the chairman, Anthony Aziegbemi is pointing accusing fingers at the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its governorship candidate.

The party believes that the incident was deliberately hatched to serve ulterior motives.

Edo State Government and the PDP want the President Tinubu led federal government and the security agencies to investigate the root cause of the breach of law and order.
