Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has demanded for the repatriation of Finland based slf acclaimed Prime Minister of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Simon Ekpa to Nigeria to face justice.
Mbah described the activities of Ekpa, a pro- Biafra self determination agitator as the most potent security risk in the South East region of the country.
The Enugu State Governor was speaking on Saturday when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence on a courtesy visit at the Lion Building, Government House, Enugu, urging the lawmakers to initiate the repatriation process.
Ekpa, who is alleged to be a fugitive, has been accused of tarnishing the image and dignity of Ndigbo and ocastrated violent attacks on citizens and security personnel.
Governor Mbah told members of the Committee led by its Chairman, Ahmed Satomi, that security is a top priority for his administration.
The Governor noted that from the beginning, his administration has focused on addressing security issues, particularly those impacting the region through the so-called “Sit-at-home” orders, but expressed concerns that individuals like Ekpa have continued to influence youths negatively through psychological manipulation.
He questioned why the Finnish Government continues to harbour Ekpa despite the adverse effects of his actions on Nigeria.
The Chairman of the visiting House of Representatives Committee, Ahmed Satomi, explained that they were in Enugu State to carry out an oversight function, commending Governor Mbah for his significant accomplishments so far.
