Motorists and other road users say they fear for the worst when plying the federal road between Gombe and Bauchi States calling on the Federal Government and its relevant agencies to quickly attend to the deteriorating state of the road.
The people say with the growing intensity of the rains, there is every likelihood that Gombe State and most parts of the North-East would be completely cut-off for good if nothing is done to arrest the conditions of the road.
It has become an annual pilgrimage for journalists to come and report on the deplorable state of the Gombe and Bauchi States border road between the towns of Bara and Kilijanga in Bauchi State. The road is at the point of disrepair as it is recording loss of lives and damage to vehicles.

For fishermen, the situation has provided another avenue to source for fish at the canals close to the road but the bridge built by the North-East Development Commission, NEDC is not enough to arrest the deplorable condition of the road. Motorists are therefore calling on the Federal Government and its agencies to take over the rehabilitation of the major road.
