The Abia State police command has advised youths in the country and the influencers of the planned nationwide protests, particularly indigenes of Abia State to be patient with the federal government on matters of national interest.

The Abia state police commissioner, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, gave the advice
in Umuahia the capital while parading suspects arrested for various criminal offenses.

Among the demands by the organizers of planned nationwide protests is the need for the federal government to return fuel subsidy, scrap the Nigerian Senate, address issues in the power sector, and the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

A cross section of Nigerians has pleaded with organizers of the protests to give government more time to tackle their demands.

The Abia State police command while acknowledging the right to peaceful protest, however advised the organizers to learn from the 2020 ‘Endsars’ protest which ended up becoming violent.

The Command also updated journalists on the successes recorded so far in the fight against crime and criminality, especially with the arrest of suspects and the recovery of various exhibits.

The Abia State police public Relations officer, Maureen Chinaka, says some trafficked children were safely rescued while some cases have also been charged to the various courts.
