Over five thousand internally displaced victims of land grabbing, property demolition and alleged forceful acquisition of properties in some communities in the Kwara State capital, Ilorin have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter to compel the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari to compensate them with one hundred and sixty billion seven hundred and fifty million naira.
The Spokesperson for the alleged victims, Tope Ajetumobi, at a press conference in Ilorin said 976 structures were demolished by the Nigerian Army Engineers in favour of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) rendering at least five thousand persons homeless without compensation.

Ajetumobi also insists that the House Public Petitions Committee passed a resolution in 2019 that NNPCL immediately assess the value of the property damaged and negotiate with the victims but up till now, nothing has been done in that regard.
The affected persons insist the NNPCL has continued to maltreat and suppress them.
