Nigeria’s Blessing Oborodudu has booked her place in the semi-finals of the 68kg women’s wrestling event at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.
The powerful Nigerian wrestler, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games, defeated Canada’s Linda Morais 8-2 in their quarterfinal match Monday afternoon to secure her place in the semifinals.
Oborududu survived an initial setback after conceding 2 points in the first 3 minutes of the bout, but she stormed back in the second half to score Eight consecutive points, to win the match 8-2 on points.

The Tokyo 2022 Olympic Silver medalist then took on French Koumba Larroque of France 6-2 , leaving nothing to chance and booked her place in the Semi Finals of the event.
Oborududu will face Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan who is an Olympic bronze medalist in the semifinals
Oborududu who is making her fourth Olympic appearance is hoping to go one better than Tokyo 2020 where she won the Silver medal when she was beaten to the gold in the final by American Tamyra Mensah Stock.
