The Kaduna State Security Council has announced a relaxation of the 24-hour curfew previously imposed on parts of the state. The new curfew hours are now from 6pm to 8am.

This decision comes after a thorough review of the security situation in Kaduna and Zaria towns and their environs.

In a statement signed by the Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, it was explained that the Council unanimously agreed to ease the 24-hour curfew that has been in place since Monday, August 4, 2024.

In light of this, citizens may now move freely and carry out their legitimate activities between 8am and 6pm. However, the curfew will be enforced from 6pm to 8am.

The Kaduna State Security Council reiterated its commitment to the peace and security of the state and assured that it would continue to take all necessary steps to maintain order.

It also states that security forces will continue to strictly enforce the curfew during the designated hours and will respond decisively to any actions that threaten to disrupt public order during both the movement and restriction periods.

The relaxed curfew will take effect from Thursday, August 8, 2024.
