A 29-year-old man identified as Muzamil Abubakar is alleged by the Police to have confessed that he poisoned his 65-year old biological father, Abubakar Adawa to death, before severing his body into parts and burying him in a shallow grave, at Barkin-sale, within the Minna metropolis of Niger State.

Muzamil, who is said to have confessed to committing the crime at the State Police Command headquarters, when he was paraded before Newsmen, said he murdered his father because of the torture meted out to him, and the unexplained hatred his father has for him.

65-year-old Abubakar Adawa, a father of six, and a retired Civil Servant, was declared missing from his Barkin-sale residence on July 29.

That prompted the Kpakungu Division of the Nigeria Police to swing into action in search of the senior citizen.

Following his arrest, 29-year-old Muzamil Abubakar, who is the second of the six siblings, allegedly confessed to the murder, and explained that he poisoned his father to death, before severing his body into parts with a knife, and burying him in a shallow grave within the compound.

The suspects further claimed that he killed his father, because of the deceased seeming hatred for him, and the physical torture he received from him, insisting that the torture and hatred of his father against him, were noticed by neighbours.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Danmamman, said the suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigation, and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
