The Management of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Kaduna, North West Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services, aimed at addressing mental health issues across the country.

This was made public by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Aishatu Amiyau, during the inauguration of the newly constructed facilities.

ait.live reports that the female ward of the hospital, which was tragically destroyed by a fire in February 2023, has been rebuilt and expanded.

The devastating blaze had forced the relocation of female patients to the children’s ward, thereby creating a strain on the hospital’s resources.

However, after a year and six months of reconstruction efforts, the hospital now boasts of a state-of-the-art female ward building.

In addition to the new female ward, the hospital has unveiled a wellness centre, a sporting arena, and an upgraded ECTEEG complex.

These enhancements are part of the Federal Government’s effort to transform the health institution, into a one-stop centre, for patients seeking mental health services, from all corners of the country.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Armiyau highlighted the importance of the facilities in improving the quality of care provided to patients.

Other Speakers at the event emphasised the need for proper maintenance of the new facilities, to ensure their longevity.

They also called on the Federal government to continue to invest in the healthcare sector, to safeguard the health and well-being of Nigerian citizens.

The new additions to the hospital are expected to significantly improve patient outcomes, and provide a more conducive environment, for both treatment and recovery.
