The Ondo state Government has trained over one hundred and fifty women on modalities to strengthening urban agriculture to reduce food scarcity in the state and the country at large.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the first phase of the Sensitization workshop on home Gardening initiative and urban Farming Techniques on Friday in the state capital, Akure said Farming is key to building a sustainable economy.
The United Nations recently predicted that 82 million Nigerians, about 64 per cent of the country’s population, may go hungry by year 2030 due to Food inflation.

To avert the threat to agricultural productivity, the ondo state Government has now organised a workshop for women and young individuals on the need to venture into Farming.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa who was represented by the commissioner for women affairs at the workshop said, the move is to encourage residents to be productive with a view to finding lasting solution to food scarcity in the state
Other Speakers harp on the need for Nigerians to embrace home Gardening initiative and urban Farming Techniques to check food insecurity.
