A State High Court in Port Harcourt has restrained Tony Okocha and other members of the caretaker committee of the All progressives Congress APC, appointed by the party’s National Working Committee, from presenting themselves as the committee’s chairman and members in Rivers State.
The Court also restrained them from taking any action or interfering in the affairs of the APC State Executive led by Emeka Beke until the expiration of their four-year tenure.
The presiding Judge, Justice Sika Aprioku, in his judgement, held that the appointment of Tony Okocha and six others as State APC Chairman and Caretaker Committee members was in disobedience of the party’s constitution.
The counsel to both parties spoke to journalists on the ruling.
Reacting to the judgement, the embattled Rivers State All Progressives Congress APC Caretaker Commmitte chairman Tony Okocha argued that, the Court does not have the powers to sack him, Stressing that the judgement will be appealed at the Apex court, and assured party faithful to be focused and that justice will be served.
