Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has provided agricultural grants to over 500 graduates across the country, of whom 20 are from southern Kaduna, to cultivate various agricultural products.

The vice president described it as an effort to tackle food insecurity in Nigeria, and support the agricultural revolution agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Twenty graduates from the eight local government areas of Southern Kaduna have been empowered to farm 20 hectares of improved maize varieties, in a farm cluster located in the Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This initiative aims to reduce poverty, and enable citizens to become not only self-reliant, but employers of labour through agriculture.

By engaging young graduates in farming, and providing them with start-up grants, Vice President Kashim Shettima seeks to create sustainable livelihoods, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

These hectares of land have been cultivated by beneficiaries in Southern Kaduna, with high-quality maize varieties.

The Secretary of Zango Kataf Local Government Area, Dr. Markus Fangan, praised the vice president for the initiative, noting that it will help address social vices in society, and boost the nation’s economy.

The beneficiaries described the initiative as providing economic opportunities as well as hope and a sense of purpose, that paves way for a brighter future.
