The Defence Headquarters has reacted to a viral video of a bandit asking Nigerians to send their account numbers for a giveaway.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Edward Buba at biweekly media briefing in Abuja called on Nigerians who know anything about people making such post on social media to say something, and the military will do something about it.

The briefing began with the Director, Major-General Edward Buba reeling out feats recorded in operations across the Niger Delta region especially on curbing crude oil theft

But beyond the scorecard, a concern was raised about how security agencies are utilising tools and intelligence to arrest citizens using social media to heat up the polity but no arrest has been made of a bandit in a viral video on Tik-Tok, dressed in military camouflage, speaking in Hausa language asking that account numbers should be sent for giveaway.

On the recent issue of the #EndBadGovernance protest, the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau added that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa had earlier called on the organisers to embrace dialogue, hence this remains the position of the Armed Forces.
