Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is updating its records on her X handle as against News making the rounds that it’s account was hacked.

The account with over 2.2 million followers, was no longer accessible as at Thursday morning, August 15, 2024, with “ACCOUNT SUSPENDED”, rather as the page’s message.

The spokesperson of the Commission, Dele Oyewale told ait.live in a telephone conversation that the anti-graft body is updating its records and will be back shortly, noting that news regarding the hacking of the Commission’s X handle X handle is false and should be disregarded.

There had been speculations that some suspected Internet fraudsters who had threatened to wage cyber war against the anti-graft office, may have hacked into its documents for reasons they termed, “disregard of constitutional norms” in cracking down on alleged dubious activities among Nigerians online, with claims that the Commission’s operatives extort them.

ait.live reports that the EFCC’s main website and other social media pages on Facebook and Instagram, are working perfectly as at the time of this report.
