Just In: Deadly Bauchi flood kills two more people in Gamawa LGA

Two people have been reported dead with one other sustaining serious injury as a results of flooding from downpour which lasted for several hours in Dalmari community in Tarmasuwa, Gamawa LGA of Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.

While confirming the incident, the village head of Tarmasuwa, Idi Garba said the incident which occured on Thursday night was as a results of downpour. Those killed include a 16-year-old boy as the building where he was sleeping with his brother collapsed though his sibling was rescued alive with injuries.

The flood also killed an old man in another apartment as it destroyed many houses and properties which the number is yet to be ascertained at this moment.

Idi therefore called on Government, and well-to-do individuals to come to their aid as many of them have been rendered homeless with their food stuffs and valuable properties destroyed.

This incident is coming in series of flooding incidents after persistent downpour In the area.

Gamawa Local Government and the neighbouring councils already affected by flooding including Shira, Giade and Katagum in Bauchi North Senatorial District were captured in a report on flood alert this year by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet.
