A few days after suspected hoodlums burned down the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Kontagora, the Director-General of the Niger State Bureau of Religious Affairs, Umar-Farooq Abdullahi, has called on Christians and Muslims in the state to join hands to tackle enemies of peace in the state.

Abdullahi made the call when he led a team to commiserate with the Niger State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna, at the state secretariat in Minna.

The Director-General, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, and Secretary, Niger Imam’s Forum, Liman MashaAllah, said, “We are one, the enemies of peace just want to cause disaffection amongst us.”

He called on the relevant security agencies to do all they can to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators, to serve as a deterrent to anyone who wants to foment trouble in the state, especially in Kontagora.

The state’s CAN Chairman, Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna, represented by his deputy, Reverend Ezekiel Ibrahim, commended the Bureau for sympathising with the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God, over the incident in Kontagora.

While noting that the Christian body takes the incident in good faith, it called for a cordial relationship between both religions, saying, “We should take advantage of the relative peace in Kontagora, and in the state, and work together to put the enemies of peace to shame.
