Several communities in Maiyama local government area in Kebbi State, North-West Nigeria have been cut off as only bridge linking the area has collapsed with flooding from downpour.
The incident happened following heavy rainfall that started on Thursday evening and continued up to Friday evening.
Eye witnesses say collapse of the bridge has disrupted economic activities, social interaction and access to essential services in the affected villages.
Rescue effort are said to be underway, with local authorities and emergency responders assessing the extent of damage.
Flood victims in affected communities are calling on the government to expedite repairs on the collapsed bridge to restore connectivity and normal activities.
