The Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners has appealed to the Ogun State government to resolve the ongoing strike by state-employed doctors, which has left many patients stranded without access to healthcare.
The appeal was made by the chairman of the association Oluseye Olufunso, Ota zone, Friday during a free medical outreach in Sango Ota, where over 500 residents received free medical care.
The outreach was aimed at educating residents on the importance of regular health checks, particularly for hypertension, diabetes, Dental care and other forms of diseases.
The health professionals used the opportunity to educate the beneficiaries on some of the causes of sudden collapse of people that could lead to death.
Medical doctors in Ogun State, under the aegis of the Nigerian Medical Association have embarked on an indefinite strike, since the first week of August, 2024, following unresolved issues on pay disparity between federal and state medical workers.
