Accreditation: Kaduna State Govt approves N470m for 12 schools

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has approved N470 million for the accreditation of courses and programmes in five tertiary institutions and seven technical and commercial secondary schools across the state.

The funds are allocated as follows: Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria N42,495,542.20; College of Nursing and Midwifery N45,532,000.00; College of Education, Gidan Waya, N45,000,000.00;
Kaduna State University, N291,481,794.00; Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital N26,640,000.00, with seven Technical and Commercial Secondary Schools, to get N18,000,000.00.

According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Education, Professor Muhammad Bello, the release of the funds will enable accreditation by relevant regulatory bodies, ant ensure that the courses offered and the certificates awarded are valid and legal, demonstrating the Governor’s commitment to quality education.

Professor Bello noted that since taking office, Governor Uba Sani has prioritised education, implementing reforms to improve access, retention, and learning outcomes. These reforms include significant investments in teacher welfare and educational infrastructure.

To further increase access to education, the Governor has reduced tuition fees in state-owned tertiary institutions by 30% to 50%. Additionally, fees at Kaduna Capital School have been significantly lowered.

The Commissioner highlighted that the administration has undertaken various projects, including plans to construct 50 additional secondary schools and renovate over 200 dilapidated school facilities, to improve educational infrastructure.

Furthermore, scholarships have been provided for 50 students to study ICT at Mewar International University. An additional N205 million has been allocated for merit-based and need-based scholarships.

Professor Muhammad Bello emphasised that the initiatives reflect the Governor’s dedication to prioritising and enhancing the quality of education in Kaduna State.
