The Police in Katsina State have gunned down a suspected 50-year-old leader of an interstate kidnapping syndicate, Abdullahi Banmi, and rescued a 65-year-old woman, Hassana Zubairu.
Police spokesman, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, said the sum of 500 million Naira ransom was demanded by the late gang leader and his team, who are at large.
Displaying the corpse of the suspected bandits’ leader, Abdullahi Banmi, Isah said the feat was achieved, based on credible intelligence, received by the officer in charge of the anti-kidnapping unit.
He said, after attacking the 65-year-old victim, Hassana Zubairu at her house in the Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State, they also abducted her to a forest called Gallu, under Yankwashi Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The Katsina Police spokesman further added that the leader was gunned down during a gun duel with officers and men of the Katsina Police Anti kidnapping unit.
Isah added that 2 other suspects were arrested during the raid, and gave their names as, 35-year-old Nana Ado and 22-year-old Ibrahim Idi.
The victim, 65-year-old Hassana Zubairu, who was too weak, old and recovering from shock, could not grant journalists interviews.
