The death toll in the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State has risen to 48.
The spokesman of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Hussaini Ibrahim who gave the update said, the 48 dead bodies were recovered from the accident scene and have being given mass burial.
The petrol tanker explosion, which was said to have occurred about 2 km away from Dendo Community in Agaie, headquarters of Agaie local government area of Niger State happened in the early hours of Sunday, September 8 at about 12:30 am.

Ibrahim further added that the agency’s Rapid Responce Team (RRT), in conjunction with other collaborating agencies, was still on the scene of the incident after recovering the 48 bodies, conducting search and response operations as more corpses were still trapped inside the trucks.
