The Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, has passed away at the age of 86.
The death of the first-class Osun State monarch was announced in a statement signed by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Chief Yinka Fasuyi.
Fasuyi, in a tribute, described the incident as an abrupt end.
Meanwhile, the people’s Democratic party in Osun state is mourning the respected monarch who it described as a courageous, principled and fearless monarch who was a colossus of traditional institution in Nigeria.
The reaction is contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the PDP in Osun state, Sunday Bisi and made available to journalists in Osogbo.
The PDP recalls Oba Aromolaran’s remarkable strides on the throne spanning over 4 decades, including being the first Nigerian Oba to hold a PhD in Economics and publishing his book, “Economics for West Africa,” in 1966.
