Nigeria’s Junior Tigress have secured a spot in the 2025 FIBA U-19 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to hold in Brno, Czech Republic.
The Nigerian team defeated Uganda 71-67 in the semi-finals, avenging their group stage loss. Idumabo Beggi led the charge with a game-high 23 points, moving her to 4th in the top scorers chart with an average of 19 points.
Nigeria dominated the first half, opening a six-point lead. Despite Uganda’s late surge, the Junior Tigress held on for the win.

This victory comes after Uganda defeated Nigeria 64-80 in the group stage. Nigeria has now eliminated both Uganda and Egypt, who finished second and first in the group stage, respectively.
The junior Tigress will face 8-time champions in today’s final.
Nigeria and Mali will join the world’s top teams in Brno, Czech Republic for the 2025.Afrobasket World Cup.
