Former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has blamed Vice President Kamala Harris, his Democratic party rival in November’s election and President Joe Biden for the latest attempt on his life.
This is as the 58- year old man, Ryan Routh, spotted with an A4-47 rifle in the shrubs at the perimeter fence of a golf course where Trump was playing a round, has been charged.
The Republican candidate made this claim in an interview with American network, Fox Digital.
Trump said comments by Biden and Harris and other top Democrats that he poses a threat to democracy must have motivated Routh, which he has not substantiated.
The FBI says it is treating the incident as an assassination attempt.
Routh was charged before a Palm County Court with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obstructed serial number.
The first offence is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and the second carries a five-year maximum term.
Reports are that Routh spent at least twelve hours by the fence of the golf course before being spotted and engaged by a secret service agent.
